USA Skimo will employ one exception to the ISMF regulations for the 2024/2025 season:
Ski brakes are the preferred system for preventing a potential runaway ski. In lieu of ski brakes, leashes will be allowed. If leashes are used, they MUST be in use everywhere except in sections of the course marked specifically for travel on-foot.
If you are purchasing new equipment this year, think ahead for these future requirements.

Mandatory gear for non-sanctioned rocky mountain races
Helmet (It's your head, nicer the helmet the safer you will be)
ID (Photocopy is fine, if you become unresponsive you want patrol to know who you are immediately)
Skis
Skins (recommend 2 pairs if race skis)
Boots
Poles
Gloves (Is the extra weight of warm gloves really worth frostbite?)
Pants
Shirt
Eye Wear (doesn't have to be worn)
Backpack (Skis on Backpack during booting)
Extra Top Layer (Anything can happen when Ski Mountaineering)
BSP (Beacon Shovel Probe) - Just do it... it isn't that heavy
Ski Retention Device - (leashes, brakes, invisible high-tensile dental floss)
Headlamp if racing before sunrise or after sunset.
CELL PHONE (for Meadow Mtn Backcountry, if you get hurt this is how you call for help)
Recommended - Not Required
Brakes or Leashes (runaway skis are no fun for anyone)
Wind layers
Neck gaiter/ Headband / Hat
Extra insulating jacket
2 ski straps (race boots like to break)
Warm Gloves (this race isn't worth permanent finger damage)
Food & Drink
